For those who love contact with nature, peasant traditions, and are curious to know and learn, Three intense and surprising days for what you will see and for what you will do. You will discover the grape cycle that becomes fine wine through the direct testimony of the winemaker, you will have the opportunity to learn how to cook a typical dish of the area, you will want to spend your time in the prestigious hills of the collio on foot, by bike or by vespa following certain routes or freely. And finally, a guided tour in nearby Gorizia to breathe the air of a city once called the Nice of the Hapsburg Empire.
ITINERARY
Transfer and accommodation.
Accompanied visit to the vineyards, one of which is centuries-old to breathe the untouched air of the Collio and touch the nature that surrounds the hills. Maybe with the possibility of seeing some roe deer or some rabbit that quickly crosses the vineyards from afar. Then we will enter the cellar to discover the secrets of the winemaking process illustrated by the winemaker who will also talk about the various techniques of aging and conservation of wine. There will certainly be an appropriate tasting of the wines produced.
And then a chef will be available to teach you how to prepare a typical local dish with your own hands. A unique experience that you can propose again to friends when you are back in your homes, surprising them with what they have learned. This will be followed by dinner prepared under your eyes by the personal guest chef in a very welcoming and unique location. Then sit and relax, in a friendly atmosphere, you will be served freshly cooked food paired with high quality wines. It will be a unique experience!
Relaxation will be the watchword in this enchanting area of the Collio, enjoying the landscape, colors and scents of the region. Driving a Vespa, a bicycle or walking the result will always be entrancing. Dinner will be in a local restaurant where the cuisine is a hybrid, as this land is a hybrid, being at the crossroads of different populations of different ethnicities. After the check out, the destination will be Gorizia, the Habsburg "Nice".
Assisted by your personal guide, you will explore the Castle and its "village" dating back to the 11th century. A visit to the provincial museums will be a mandatory step to get a precise picture of the millenary history of this city, a crossroads of peoples and cultures. A gentle walk from the Castle and a visit to the Cathedral, of which a first evidence of its existence dates back to 1296, will be the preamble to reaching an ancient street in the village, via Rastello, with its old shops, which is a witness to a very flourishing past that no longer exists, but also of a near future of rebirth.At the end of this extraordinary street, you will reach the magnificent Piazza Vittoria where the church of Sant'Ignazio dominates imperiously with its two baroque style bell towers and its wonderful decorative interiors in marble and carved with inlaid wooden furnishings that date back to the 17th century.
Lunch break at your discretion in one of the many restaurants nearby. If there is time left in the early afternoon, we will continue to visit the city to admire the historic villas from the late 1800s and early 1900s and the most modern part of the city. Finally there will be the farewell of the guide and the transfer to the place of departure.
