From there an unforgettable bike excursion will start, retracing a section of the old railway that connected Udine with Tarvisio passing through tunnels and bridges surrounded by fairytale mountain landscapes. The first stop will be in Tarviso for a small breakfast or coffee, and then continue along the cycle path until reaching Chiusaforte, a place where we will stop for lunch in an old station which has been converted into a restaurant and mechanical workshop for bikes.
After a well-deserved rest it will resume to cover the last Kilometers to reach the locality of Carnia where the train will take back to Gorizia.
Expected time of return around 18.30.
At 8.30 pm after a well-deserved shower and a nap, you will be hosted for dinner in a typical local farmhouse run by a former famous Olympic boxer. Delicious food and laughter will certainly not be lacking thanks to the work and sympathy of Paolo Vidoz.
The day will be dedicated to relaxation where a guide will pick you up from your location and take you around Gorizia to introduce you to the hidden gems that this city hides. You will take a walk through the city center starting from the medieval castle of the city and cross the historic center while the guide will delight you with tales of the history of Gorizia which was called the Habsburg Nice for its climate, its morphology and its tranquility. At around 12.30, a shuttle will take you to the adjacent Collio where you can first and foremost enjoy a snack of typical local products and taste some famous local wines; certainly the whites are highly recommended, renowned throughout the world such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot and Malvasia. After that, we will continue alternating the Italian and Slovenian Collio, called Brda, to delight us with a unique view of the hills planted with olive and cherry vineyards.
Return not before having made a passage in the Friuli Venezia Giulia wine shop where, if desired, you can buy wine and there will be the possibility of tasting different wineries to find the most suitable wine for your palates.
